Requirements:

Grade 12 certificate, appropriate qualification (Specialist in Family Medicine: MPrax MED/ MFAMMED/MCFP (SA)/ MMED or equivalent) Registration certificate with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a specialist Family Physician, with current registration (annual registration card). At least 3 years’ experience after registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Family Medicine. This is a joint appointment with University of Witwatersrand Division of Family Medicine. The candidate must possess both strong clinical management and academic leadership qualities. Extensive knowledge of the South African district health and Primary Health Care (PHC) system. Significant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience, including experience with supervision of post graduate research. Computer literacy is essential.

Duties:

Coordinate comprehensive medical services in the district. Implement quality improvement processes to identify and address problems related to patient care and the health system, in consultation with other stakeholders. Support the implementation of ideal clinics including quality improvement projects Ensure Family Physicians implement performance management for themselves as well as for their subordinates: medical officers, registrars, etc. Participate in District Management structures, especially supporting the district management team in the implementation of the district health plan. In liaison with other stakeholders, provide leadership in the implementation of Primary Health Care (PHC) re-engineering, School Health and Ward Base PHC outreach teams. Coordinate and rollout a structured, continued professional development programmes to optimize the knowledge and skills of clinicians in the district (Medical officers, Community services and Registrars). Physically render specialist Family Medicine services to patients across district healthcare facilities and rotate through all services points. Participate in commuted overtime in the district. There may be additional clinical responsibilities in the functioning of the department, including the establishment of clinical protocols and oversight of these. Develop, coordinate and supervise the six-month Family Medicine rotation for Registrars across the district. Lead and actively participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training programmes of the Division of Family Medicine. Conduct high quality primary care research and disseminate findings (including in peer review publications) that are relevant to improve the safety and quality of clinical services. Perform any other duties as may be determined by the Chief Director.

The Pain Collective

The Collective is a country-wide network of interdisciplinary, interventional pain clinics. There are currently several private practice opportunities available in Gauteng.

At PAIN we offer non-surgical management of painful conditions and provide optimal pain relief and help individuals return to their daily activities. Our clinics address a wide range of conditions including Arthritis, Headaches, Neurological Pain, Fibromyalgia, and more, through non-surgical interventions like injections, nerve blocks, and pulsed radiofrequency neuromodulation. Role Description
These are full-time on-site roles and involves managing and treating patients with painful conditions such as arthritis, neurological pain, back pain, neck pain, and headaches among others. Duties include performing non-surgical interventions like injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency procedures and collaborating with other pain specialists for comprehensive patient care.
Full in-house training is provided in a system of graded autonomy and on-going supervision with a weekly academic programme, yearly national conferences and peer-assistance.

Requirements
Registration as an independent practitioner with the HPCSA.
Registration for private practice with practice number at the BHF.
Ten years or more clinical experience.

The Division of Rural Health (Ukwanda) seeks to advance rural health as an academic discipline in order to addresses the key issue of health equity, which is central to the mission of the Department of Global Health and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS). As an academic Division of Stellenbosch University (SU), Ukwanda aims to be a champion for advancing rural health, locally and globally.  The primary focus of this position is to assist the Senior Lecturer MBChB programme (Rural Health) with clinical supervision and support of final year medical students based at the rural distributed training sites. This will include the development and implementation of the final year module of the renewed MBChB curriculum, the Distributed Clinical Apprenticeship.

Duties/Pligte

• The incumbent will be responsible for the following, under the guidance of the RCS MBChB coordinator:
• Clinical supervision of final year medical students:
  • o   Clinical supervision of students at Avian Park Clinic, twice weekly, and other sites as needed.
  • o   Site visits to support students based at district hospitals in the Western Cape.
• Providing academic support by participating in the assessment of final year medical students, presenting workshops, online teaching and developing content for teaching purposes.
• Working as part of the RCS MBChB team and assisting with carrying out responsibilities of the team.
• Supporting the development and implementation of the Distributed Clinical Apprenticeship (DCA) module, including visiting rural DCA sites.
